You heard it here first. The Reserve Bank is working secretly on a project it calls the Next Generation Bank Note.
The undercover operation has been going for five years and is two years behind schedule. The cost to taxpayers so far is a cool $9,300,000.
The aim of the project is to create a new polymer bank note. Is it a good idea? Will it help to reduce counterfeiting? Who knows, all we can tell you at ACTIVEND Vending Machines is that if this new bank note sees the light of day it will require us to recalibrate our vending machines to read and accept the new material. The current bank notes you are familiar with were released between 1993-2001.
